And Isn’t It Ironic? Rainy Day Weddings
You’ve spent months ( and sometimes years ) planning EVERY detail meticulously. You’ve looked at multiple venues, met with multiple vendors, and now it’s the morning of the event. And it’s raining. And not that little, ” oh hey that’s cute it’s misting” sort of rain, but the ” hell hath no fury like this current storm” raining. Your heart sinks, but all isn’t lost.
Getting rained out on your wedding day can be heart-breaking, but it’s not the end of the world. Every wedding venue and event coordinator has a backup plan for this sort of thing ( they’ve seen it happen once or twice ) and any vendor that’s worth their salt knows how to deal with it. So what can be done about the photography? Fear not, because we’ve got some tips for surviving the prenuptial washout:
- Deep breaths. First and foremost – RELAX. It’s easy to get worked up about one detail that ultimately will not affect how you remember one of the best days of your life.
- Backup Plan. As mentioned above – every venue has one and most have a location where the formal photography can be done either a) under overhead shelter or b) inside the venue itself.
- Did someone say golf? White golf umbrellas look amazing for couples or for the whole bridal party ( although, as shown in the title image, other colors work too )! A simple google search for “white golf umbrella” will yield a ton of results ( Bonus points if you add the term “bulk” and watch the prices drop for most bridal parties over 10 folks total ).
Remember that it’s the photographer’s job to make sure you don’t remember the rain as ruining everything. Looking for someone who may know a thing or two about that? Our contact info is all over this page.
