Our Story,
Kerry & Mike
Shakespeare once said, “Love is blind” well mine was on our first date. That was the only thing blind about it. I met my future husband at Red Rock Bistro in Swampscott. I was never so nervous in my life, the fear of the unknown was making me anxious.
I was so excited and relieved when I walked into the restaurant to find him standing there patiently waiting. He was handsome and not too tall. I am 5’ft and had been buried in most men’s armpits during my previous dating life. It was nice to finally be closer to eye level, and his eyes were captivated by mine.
I had a list of characteristics that my future husband would possess. My top one was being an animal lover. I stand firm that if a man doesn’t love animals there must be something wrong with him. Fortunately, he is a huge dog lover and adopted Archie a senior Doberman who gave better kisses than most humans. I wanted someone with stability who was kind and caring.
Our first Valentines Day, there was a terrible storm. He drove into a large puddle and it flooded the engine in his car. He was able to keep his composure. So many times when I expected a behavior of rage and anger, I saw someone who was calm, in-control, and willing to accept the situation and move on.
He has taught me the best life lessons over the past 6 years. I know our lives are best lived with each other. We watch those corny commercials with the cute elderly couple and their Swiffer and smile, that’s us. He’s my “Morty”. That was also his favorite Christmas gift. I know I’ll age gracefully with him by my side and our house will be spotless.
I can’t wait to marry my best friend. Thank you for reading our love story –
